Is Russell Brand incredibly annoying, or incredibly ahead of his time? He’s been famous for about two years now (and super famous now, thanks to his engagement with Katy Perry), and we still can’t figure out why he’s so famous. Granted, we once thought the same thing of both Jon Lovitz and Norm MacDonald, and now they’re two of the funniest comedians from the last 30 years, in our opinion, at least.

Maybe Brand’s funnier in real life, which is why it’s worth heading over to the Union Square Barnes & Noble tonight, where Brand’s reading from his new book, My Booky Wook 2, sequel to, you guessed it, My Booky Wook. If there’s a Q&A session, be sure to ask about his role in Julie Taymor’s The Tempest. We saw the movie, and we don’t really get it, although the sight of Brand getting drunk with Alfred Molina is pretty hilarious.
