A few weeks ago, we told you about the Public Theater’s “Public Forum” series, which begins October 18. Here’s what we wrote about that night’s event:
October 18, 8 p.m.
“Chasing the Green Light”
In honor of the Public Theater’s Gatz, explore F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, and how America’s recent troubles have affected the American dream. There will also be a roundtable on Fitzgerald’s legacy, featuring Michael Friedman (composer/lyricist of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jay McInerney (author of Bright Lights, Big City) and Suzan-Lori Parks (Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright). Afterward, Arianna Huffington will discuss her new book, Third World America. Hosted by Sam Waterston.
Well, it got even better. The Public Theater announced earlier today that Academy Award-nominated (Rachel Getting Married) actress Anne Hathaway and Gossip Girl author Cecily von Ziegesar joining the participants of “Chasing the Green Light.” Hathaway will read from the letters that Fitzgergald’s wife, Zelda, sent to her husband, while von Ziegesar will participate in the roundtable.
