Last week, we told you about the Midnight Ramble, a near-weekly concert series inside Levon Helm’s barn studio in Woodstock, and this weekend, we visited it for ourselves. And what a week to visit. Just seeing Levon and his Band (including Larry Campbell and his daughter, Amy) would have been enough, but Steely Dan’s Donald Fagan was there, too, playing piano and occasionally singing. My Morning Jacket opened the show, and lead singer Jim James joined Levon & Co. for “It Makes No Difference,” the night’s highlight.
Below are pictures of what we saw, including a trip to Big Pink.

The promoters of the Midnight Ramble kindly ask visitors to bring a snack for the community table. We brought brownies with Levon Helm M&M’s.
