Are you unfamiliar with steampunk? Did you see Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes or Shane Acker’s 9? Both of those are considered steampunk (and one is soooo much better than the other). Basically, it’s an alternate reality where steam powered technology is mixed with science fiction.
This Sunday, October 24, is the third annual Steampunk Day at the DUMBO Loft, presented by Brooklyn Indie Market. From 11 a.m.-8 p.m., there will be a steampunk-inspired fashion show, photography and exhibitions. Steampunk is heavily inspired by the works of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, so there will also be a Steampunk Literary Corner.
