About:

In addition to premiering a solo work dedicated to the memory of her grandmother, Camille A. Brown & Dancers will perform Matchstick, a new work based on the historical period between the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement with live accompaniment by Brandon McCune and poetry by Dana Gourrier, performed by J. Michael Kinsey. Also on the program: The Evolution of a Secured Feminine,Brown’s critically acclaimed solo; The Groove to Nobody’s Business, commissioned by the Alvin Ailey American Dance theater; and audience favorite New Second Line, a celebration of the culture and spirit of New Orleans. An original composition by Grammy-nominated Kurt KC Clayton, accompaniment by drummer/percussionist Farai Malianga and live vocals by Crystal Monee Hall complement the program.
