Angelika Film Center is a movie theater chain in the United States that features independent and foreign films. It operates theaters in New York City and Texas.
The original Angelika Film Center & Café opened in New York City’s Soho district in 1989. Since its opening, it has been a hub for independent cinema. It has six screens, all of which are below ground level, and its ground floor lobby houses a fully operational cafe accessible by people who do not hold tickets. From 1997 to 2005, the Angelika Film Center was used as the set for At The Angelika, a weekly TV series distributed by IFC Films.
In 1997, an Angelika Film Center & Café opened in Houston, TX and in 2001, another opened in Dallas, TX. In 2004, the Angelika opened its newest, state-of-the-art location in Plano, Texas.
